Contestants must live within a 50-mile radius of Sacramento, the location of the 2008 Statewide Conference. Teachers are encouraged to contact Margarita Berta-Avila (grades 1-6) and Tricia Lima (grades 7-12) in advance if their students are planning to submit entries in order to ensure that there are enough readers.
