Archaeological Surveys Reveal Pond Spring History From 1995 to 2000 , two major archaeological surveys were conducted at Pond Spring. The first was led by Dr. Linda Stine (then of Samford University ) in the early winter of 1995. It should be noted that the earliest human presence at Little River and the surrounding area most probably resulted from an appreciation of the abundant natural resources to be found there.
